a particular painting style with Japanese traditional method and materials such as iwa-enogu(dry pigments made of minerals), suihi -enogu(dry pigments made of clay, plants, insects and so on), nikawa(a sort of glue made of animal hide), etc, besides sumi-ink and bamboo brushes.
